How to Buy Tickets for the Awards
The 2017 societies ball is happening March 27th at 6 30pm, sitting for dinner at 7pm in the Radisson Blu Hotel.

- Your confirmation email will act as your ticket so please print out this email Please remember to bring valid ID and your NUI Galway student ID as we will be scanning your student ID.
- Tickets include reception, dinner, awards ceremony and entertainment on the night. Thanks to the Bank of Ireland for their generous sponsorship of the awards.
- This tickets are NON TRANSFERABLE and can only be bought by a valid committee member, with each committee member only eligible to buy 1 ticket.
- There are no assigned seats on the night and you are free to sit with whichever society you want.
- If you have someone in your society that you feel has contributed greatly to the society this year, it is possible to put them on the reserve list for purchasing a ticket. Committee members will have until Monday March 20th at 1pm to avail of their ticket at which point it will be opened up to those on the reserve list (who will then have access to purchasing these tickets on the webstore). In order to be placed on the reserve list, the society you are part of must email SocsBox (Socsbox@socs.nuigalway.ie) with your student information and a valid example of how you contributed to the society.

â˘ You cannot enter Best Society BEST SOCIETY (IN A CHARITY OR CIVIC FIELD) and BEST SOCIETY (IN A CULTURAL, ACADEMIC OR SOCIAL FIELD) choose the one which fits your society.
â˘ Most Improved must compare with last year (see last year in the end of year reports https://socs.nuigalway.ie/page.php?id=NA==
â˘ Best Departmental is for academic societies associated with an academic department in NUI Galway.
â˘ Best New Soc: To be eligible a new society must be in its first two academic years from March 12th (ie for the 2017 awards set up after March 12th 2015)
â˘ Events that take place earlier than March 12th of the previous year (ie for the 2017 after March 12th 2016) and after the deadline for submitting the current awards may not enter.
â˘ A Best Fresher is deemed to be a society member who is in their first year in a third level institution â it is up to each college to nominate an individual who adheres to this criterion.
â˘ Best Individual & Best Fresher will be required to attend a short interview between 6pm and 9pm on Wednesday March 22nd (the Socsbox will contact you to arrange your slot)
â˘ Best Photo DO NOT enter this award here, up load your photo to the new gallery in your dashboard. Put in the Title and in the Description include the following:
Name of Photographer & a description of the photo including where and when it was taken.
The Award for best society photograph is the award for
the photograph which best captures the âsociety spirit'. The Adjudicators will choose from the Gallery.
â˘ Best Poster will be shortlisted from the posters on the society website and invited to submit a nomination. https://socs.nuigalway.ie/home.php
â˘ The Most Soccessful and Phoenix Award will be chosen from all the other applications. (they do not have their own application process)
â˘ Adjudication is taking place over 3 days.
You can enter more than one Best individual, Fresher, event, video, promo campaign, small publication.
Fill in each question they are asked i.e. detail committee structure, tell us about the event etc. At the top of these questions will be a live timer to let you know how much time you have left before applications close.
Throughout the entire process you have the option to save your progress and continue or save your progress and come back to it at a later time.
When you reach the end of the application, the âsend nominationâ button appears.
All submitted awards will then get this notice in the browser you are using
All societies still have the option to withdraw their application until the deadline closes.
You will need Firefox to access the awards, if you are experiencing difficulty logging into the website, check with another committee member and see if their login is working. You can also fill in your answers on the BICS applications (for the BICS Awards we use the same template) and e-mail it into the Socsbox with the title of the award in the subject by the deadline above.
