Society Training Week Sept 25th - 29th


Societies 101
2 hour session: Everything you need to know about societies (all the general info, how socs work, where they fit into the university, what is the USCG, achieving your potential, awards, digital badges, on line training, IT developments, themed weeks opportunities etc

This will be a repeated session for 2 hours taking place 4 times, to give everyone an opportunity to attend.

4.00pm - 4.45pm The role of Societies in Smart Consent, an interactive exploration of societies duty of care to their members.

4.45pm - 6.00pm Dealing with conflicts

6.00pm - 6.30pm Understanding the Scheduel of Allowances and society funding entitlements.

6.30pm - 7.30pm Group work creating your society constituency performance.

2.00pm - 4.00pm Master Class in Fundraising and Sponsorship with Jim Kelly

After a spell in retail banking, Jim enjoyed a thirteen-year stint managing brand communications and philanthropic efforts within AIB Group, where he had full responsibility for a number of national projects such as the Ryder Cup 2006 and the Better Ireland Programme. He also developed and managed the sponsorship department of the bank that included all areas of communication such as direct mail, advertising, PR and merchandising. In 2010, Jim was seconded to the Dublin Institute of Technology, assisting with the development of all external philanthropy and fundraising initiatives for the DIT Foundation. Jim left AIB Bank (and DIT) in 2012, to work as a communications consultant with the Central Bank of Ireland on a project basis. Jim holds a Bachelor of Financial Services Degree from UCD, is a Fellow of the Marketing Institute of Ireland and a past council member of the Ireland Funds. In 2012, Jim completed a Digital Marketing Course with the MII and is a member of many online business action group.

How to be a treasurer, using the on line system, balancing your books,  banking 365. Getting set up with your new signatories, rules and protocols..

6.15pm - 7.30pm 
Budgeting, break even points and Understanding the Scheduel of Allowances. selling at the SocsBox and on the webstore, setting up your own till and tracking attendance.

The role of the secretary, agendas, minutes, effective committee meetings, how to hold an AGM and EGM
5.30pm - 5.50pm Tea break
5.50pm - 7.30pm
End of year report, internal and external communication methods, letter writing, understanding your constitution, society rules and protocols.

PRO/Marketing

3.30pm - 5.30pm
Internal and External communication, social media, press releases. society rules and protocols.
5.30pm - 5.50pm Tea break
5.50pm - 7.30pm
Utilising the societies on line supports, the calendar, whats happening guide, societies on line image. Effective posters.

Event/ Health and Safety.

3.30pm - 5.30pm How to organise and event, from planning and budgeting to running a successful event and post event follow up tasks.
5.30pm - 5.50pm Tea break
5.50pm - 7.30pm Health and Safety, doing a risk assement, society rules and protocols. Society Equipment. Understanding the Scheduel of Allowances and grant entitlements. 


SOCS BIG PARTY

8pm Party for all committee members in the Bailey Allen, a get to know one another bonding session with food and music. You will receive your ticket at any of the sessions you attend during the week.

8pm - 9pm Dinner

9pm - 9.40pm Society Constituency performances

9.40pm - 11.30pm Music / games etc for everyone to have fun and get to know one another.


We are backing this up with new on line training which will be in Blackboard and every committee member will have the opportunity to get a Digital Badge from the University as well as an ALIVE Cert.
