The NUI Galway Journalism Society is here to encourage and guide young aspiring journalists to be the best journalist that they can be. Whether you are interesed in a career as a writer, photographer, broadcaster, or as a radio presenter or whether you enjoy journalism as a hobby, we hope that our society will support you and all your journalistic endeavours. We create an environment where one can be inspired by fellow colleagues works or seek support and guidance on a work in porgress. Building a portfolio can be lonesome so we hope that our society will be there for you through the struggles, the successes and the quest for motivation and inspiration.
How do we do this? Check out our student blog journalismsoc.wordpress.com. This is where our members contribute their works to. It also provides a space where our members can learn how to edit, and web design.
See our society constitution here.
Meetings are once every two weeks on Wednesdays from 7-8pm, in the Art room upstairs in Áras na MacLéinn. Any changes in time or venue will be communicated via our Facebook page.
Once a month we release a theme for our blog Uni-Verse. Journalists are encouraged to contribute to our blog . All welcome to dabble!
