NUIG's very own orchestra!

The NUI Galway Orchestra Society is celebrating the start of its fifteenth season this September. The orchestra, which was founded by Rosina Joyce, started as a string ensemble of about 20 musicians. Unlike many other university orchestras around Ireland, the Orchestra Society is not linked to a University Music Department and so relies on funding and support from the University’s Societies Office as well as the enthusiasm of its members.  Over the years we have grown to over forty active members including wind, brass and percussion players, all of whom are dedicated to providing music for the campus and its students, as well as the Galway community.

Rehearsals are conducted by Matthew Berrill and are held every Tuesday at 7.00pm in the View, Áras na Mac Léinn, NUI Galway. Membership of the orchestra is open to everybody and new players are more than welcome to join.

We're also on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/nuigorchestrasoc/ and instagram at @nuig_orchestrasoc!
