Failte Refugees Society

What if every community in Ireland found a safe place for refugees? Join a network of students across Ireland who want to help make this a reality through campaigning, education and volunteering!

We are the Galway branch of a nationwide, student-led campaign. The campaign originated with a group of 3rd level students who, like most Irish people, wanted to know more about the current refugee crisis, and found that the breadth of public awareness concerning the crisis was unacceptably low.

Our members include students from a range of Irish universities, and aim to have Societies in each of the universities as soon as possible. We also aim to increase public awareness of the global refugee crisis, to empower the students of Ireland to become agents of change in improving public awareness, and to motivate the people of Ireland to support the Irish Government stand by its promise to welcome those who are forced to flee their homes.

We ultimately aim to welcome refugees into every community in Ireland, and support their dignified integration in to Irish society, so if you think that you would like to get involved just contact us on Facebook, or email: failterefugees@socs.nuigalway.ie
