Let's play some Music.

The newly reinvented Music Soc in NUIG is based on the idea of developing your own original material and collaborating with others, as well as the promotion of music events around campus, as well as Galway City and the wider world.

The main objective of Music Soc is to provide students in NUIG a friendly and relaxed environment in which to meet new people and make new friends all through the power of music. We are not genre biased! All genres all welcome be it rock, pop, fol-glam rock (lol), jazz, classical or blues. The aim is to have all sorts of musicians developing their own unique sound, as well as collaborating with others. Wanna be the next Bruce Springsteen? Or create the dream songwriting team, like Lennon and McCartney? Then come join us and see what you can create!!

We also run the weekly Open Mic night in Súlt which allows people to gain confident on stage and singing/performing in front of others. It's great craic and plenty of new talent emerges every year from the Open Mic. Hosted by our Committee members.

Music Soc also has weekly jams in the acoustic rooms and as usual free pizza is always present! Various other events are scattered throughout the year including table quiz, live gigs, and Battle of the Bands (Witless).

Open Mic, College Bar Back Room, Monday's from 9pm. Play a song, win a prize!

Currently all our events are suspended due to Covid 19, but we hope to be back in action soon. Email us at with your name and Student ID number to join the society.
